"The Cost of Doing Startups" - A Comparative Canadian Study

There are many consulting/professional services firms that provide comparative studies on the 'costs of doing business' between different cities or jurisdictions. Today's new idea - examine the bundle of services that a typical high technology startup procures in its formative period and compare the cost (and availability) of such services between jurisdictions. Such a study would be of significant help to local economic development officials not only for attracting new startups to their region but for attracting venture capitalists as well. These procurements (costs) would be very different than for the business community as a whole, and of significant importance given the stage of company involved. In addition to attracting venture capitalists, the results from such a study would allow local 'angel' investors to assess risk.
